ESWC Preliminaries now over in five countries

Players and teams from the United-States, Brazil, Ecuador, Germany United, Arab Emirates and Poland are now qualified for the Electronic Sports World Cup finals set to take place in San Jose, California.

Less than three months from now, the ESWC World Finals will settle in San Jose, USA, for 3 days of competition, show and entertainment. The 6th edition of the Electronic Sports World Cup will take place on the 25th, 26th and 27th of August, during the NVISION 08, the first-ever visual computing mega-event where thousands of enthusiasts, gamers and artists will gather.

Among all these people, 800 video-games champions coming from 50 countries over the 6 continents will battle and compete to grab one of the six ESWC world titles brought into play on the following disciplines: Counter-Strike (male and female), Warcraft 3, Trackmania, DotA and Quake. But to get there, players will have had to qualify through a global network of qualifier and tournaments involving more than 100 000 players.

Five of these qualifiers are now over and national champions have been qualified in the United-States, Ecuador, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Poland. The world’s best gamers will now have 12 weeks to prepare for the ESWC finals.

Qualifiers are still running in more than 40 countries, all the players and teams attending the Electronic Sports World Cup in San Jose will be qualified by the end of July. This week-end, June 7-8 2008, Russia, Portugal, Venezuela, Netherlands and the United-Kingdom are having their own national finals; results will be published on www.eswc.com.
