CWL Paris Open format, cash prize and Pro Points split13.01.2017 - All news « ESWC 2017 Winter »
The CWL Paris Open, Presented by Playstation®4, will gather teams from all over the world from 17th to 19th February 2017. They will compete for a share of $100,000 of cash prize and the winning team will earn 10,000 CWL Pro Points per player also as part of the weekend’s competition.
Fans will cheer for their favorite teams in a thrilling three days of competition thanks to a tournament format providing numerous exciting match-ups of all levels. The competition will consist of an Open Bracket and Pool Play followed by a Championship Bracket.
The Open Bracket will see teams compete in a double elimination bracket from Friday, February 17th to Saturday, February 18th. The registration for the Open Bracket is open to all teams from North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions.
The 4 top teams from the winners bracket of the Open Bracket will qualify and enter Pool Play.
The Pool Play will gather 16 Teams with 8 from Europe and 4 from North America starting in Pool Play. The 4 remaining teams will come from the Open Bracket. The 16 teams will be split into 4 groups which will be played from Friday, 17th to Saturday, 18th February. The 4 top teams from Open Bracket will join them on Saturday for the last Pool Play matches.
The Top 8 European teams based on total CWL Pro Points as of 9:00am CET on 6th February will be qualified for the Pool Play. They will receive support for their travel and accommodation. The Top 4 attending North American teams based on total CWL Pro Points as of 9:00am CET on 6th February will be qualified for the Pool Play.
The Championship Bracket will take the 16 from the Pool Play, as well as 4 additional teams from the Open Loser’s Bracket, and seed them into a 20 team, double elimination bracket. The top 2 teams from each group will advance into the Winner’s Championship bracket and the remaining 8 teams will be seeded into the Loser’s Championship bracket. The 4 additional teams advancing from the Open Loser’s Bracket will also be seeded into the Loser’s Championship Bracket. The Championship Bracket will be played in a double elimination format from Saturday, 18th to Sunday, 19th February to crown the grand champion of the CWL Paris Open.
The roster of all teams participating at the CWL Paris Open will need to be submitted for seeding by 11:59pm CET on February, 14th.
